Sven Gatz is Brussels born and raised. He has been a Brussels and Flemish Member of Parliament, the parliamentary leader of Open Vld in the Flemish Parliament, director of the Belgian Brewers Federation and Flemish Minister of Culture, Media, Youth and Brussels affairs. In 2019 he was sworn in as Brussels Minister of Finance, Budget, Civil Service and the Promotion of Multilingualism. The latter competence is a first for Europe.
